What’s on the Horizon: Reading the Future of the Economy, Projects, and Developments in Colorado 

Join us for this informative luncheon during which we will hear various perspectives on the economic state of Colorado.  With perspectives from Northwest Douglas County, Jefferson County, and Denver, this luncheon will be a great way to hear about what’s happening in various regions of Colorado, who has development, who is growing, and where to find work.

Amy ShermanAmy Sherman, Director
Northwest Douglas County Economic Development
Amy Sherman is the President of the Northwest Douglas County Economic Development Corporation, an organization she helped create in November 2011.  The Northwest Douglas County EDC covers Roxborough, Sterling Ranch, Santa Fe Corridor, and Highlands Ranch.  The organization is focused on infrastructure improvements, public policy, and marketing of the region as a premier place to locate or expand a business.

Amy currently serves on the Lamb Spring Archeological Preserve Board of Directors, the Roxborough PTIC, and ONE Roxborough.

Previously, Amy was the President & CEO of the West Chamber Serving Jefferson County for ten years.  Prior to that Amy worked for the Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Travel & Tourism Authority (now Colorado Tourism Office), and the National Potato Council. 

Amy is the Past President of the Colorado Chamber of Commerce Executives, and served on the Board of the Colorado Association of Commerce & Industry.  She served on the Executive Committee of the Western Association of Chamber Executives, based in California.  She has served on several community and business boards, such as Jefferson County EDC, St. Anthony Health Foundation, Lakewood Legacy Foundation, Wheat Ridge 2020, Denver West Kiwanis, and Wheat Ridge Rotary.

Amy has a degree in Communications and Psychology from the University of Kansas and is a graduate of Institute for Organizational Management, Colorado College.  Amy is a Douglas County native and lives in Roxborough with her husband, Steve, and boy/girl twins.


Kevin McCaskyKevin McCasky, President and CEO
Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation
Kevin McCasky serves as the President & CEO of JeffCo EDC. Prior to joining JeffCo EDC, Kevin was elected Jefferson County Commissioner in November 2004, and re-elected in 2008. Prior to being elected Commissioner, McCasky was elected and served as Jefferson County Assessor from 1998 - 2004.

He served as Chairman on the Jefferson Parkway Public Highway Authority, the Jefferson Economic Council Board, the Boundary Control Commission, and the CleanLaunch Board of Directors. The West Chamber honored McCasky as the 2006 Elected Official of the Year, which was the second time he received that award and the only person in the Chamber’s 60 year history to receive the award twice. Also, he was the Jefferson Economic Council’s Elected Official of the Year (2006) and the Economic Development Council of Colorado’s Volunteer of The Year (2009).

His current community service includes serving as an Honorary Board Member of the Second Wind Fund, and is a member of the Denver West Kiwanis Club. His previous community service included serving on the Boards of the Westerra Credit Union, the Ralston House Board of Directors, the Jefferson County Children’s Alliance and the Prospect Recreation & Park District. Also, he served on the Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Council, the Manning School and Madison High School committees that worked with the Jefferson County R-1 School Board to create two new option schools in Jefferson County.


Paul WashingtonPaul Washington, Executive Director
Denver Office of Economic Development

Paul Washington is the Executive Director of the Denver Office of Economic Development.  Prior that to that, Paul was the president of LJS Holdings LLC, a leading finance advisory firm that specializes in international mergers, acquisitions and investment banking.  LJS Holdings represents a select group of clients, including companies in Kuwait, India and Germany.  Paul is also an adjunct professor at the University of Colorado in Boulder, where he teaches a graduate course in Business Planning. 

Paul began his professional career as an attorney at the law firm of Hogan Lovells, specializing in large merger and acquisition transactions. 

Paul holds a Series 7, 24 and 28 securities license and is a member of the California and Colorado Bar Associations.  He was appointed by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter to the State Securities Board in 2009. 

In 1991 Paul earned his B.S. in business (finance) from the University of California at Berkeley and in 1996 received his JD from that institution’s Boalt Hall School of Law, where he was president of the graduate student body.  He is a March 2012 candidate for an LLM in Taxation from the University of Denver.  Paul currently resides in Boulder, Colorado with his wife Nadia.
