Where’s Waldo’s House?
Finding Multi-Family Residential Development in 2012

With the fluctuation in the single-family residential market, there has been a spike in multi-family leasing, demand, and development.  The question is, where are the projects and who is developing?  For this luncheon, we will be focusing on bringing our SMPS members knowledge about where multi-family projects are popping up and who is in charge of making them happen.  Come join us in March to learn more about what’s happening in multi-family development for 2012.

This event is also our Sponsorship Showcase. Come meet our sponsors at the March Luncheon!

Speakers

David Zucker, Principal for Zocalo Community Development
David focused on downtown development as soon as he arrived in Denver in 1990.  David’s first project was the Lofts over the Wynkoop Brewery. Since the Wynkoop, David established the vision for historic conversions such as the Downtown Denver and Downtown San Diego Courtyards by Marriott, which utilized the Historic Investment Tax Credit. In Denver, David was one of the first developers to work through, develop and sell deed-restricted, for-sale units at Silver State Lofts, a program that codified in the Inclusionary Housing Ordinance. As a LEED-Accredited Professional, David oversees all aspects of project development and management to ensure they meet project specifications, budgets and timelines.

David received his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia in 1990. He was chairman of the board of directors of community jazz station KUVO and was Co-Chair of the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Housing Council. David was co-founder of the University of Denver's Affordable Housing Conference and was co-chair for the Conference's first five years.

David has appointed to the Mayor Hancock's Task Force on Affordable Housing.  He received the Affordable Housing Leader of the Year Award for 2006 from the Denver chapter of the Enterprise Foundation.

Chris Parr, Director of Development for Denver Housing Authority
Chris is the Director of Development for the Housing Authority of the City and County of Denver.  Since 2004, Chris has been responsible for the delivery of over 1200 homes through multiple projects in Denver including the Curtis Park and Park Avenue HOPE VI Redevelopments as well as planning for two major redevelopment sites, South Lincoln and Sun Valley.  Current housing initiatives are focused on holistic sustainability to ensure the incorporation of urban issues such as transit, jobs, education, energy, food access and other key measures through an equitable process.  Prior to the Housing Authority Chris worked for the Integral Group, a private development company working in several national markets.  With Integral Chris served as the Denver Development Program Manager.  Previous to that, Chris worked for an investment bank in Chicago managing asset holdings including real estate.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wheaton College.
